Alnwick Castle

After spending the night in Haltwhistle, we made our way north to Alnwick Castle, where some of the scenes from Harry Potter were filmed.

The castle had an area where children could do activities such as soap-making, knight-fighting,  designing shields and creating clay tiles.  There was  also a dragon quest area, where you needed to answer the questions to learn the dragon's name, then it went into a room with animated creatures (similar to a ghost train ride) and a mirror maze. Matt thought it was all pretty tame until on the way out, the door suddenly shook and rattled like a monster was coming through. It gave him a heart attack,  and Cameron and I killed ourselves laughing.

The rooms in the castle were all fully furnished with  antiques, including a sideboard from pre-French Revolution and a table exquisitely carved with pictures of dragons, snakes and faces representing the 5 senses. An awesome stop on the way to Edinburgh.

We're still having trouble uploading photos, so may get some photos on here later, ot otherwise will provide a link to google+ to view them. (Very frustrating).
