Drive to La Spezia

Terrible discovery this morning. I switched on the computer to do some blogging (had to catch up before we left Rome) and found that the screen has a large crack right across it. We're treating it with great care to hopefully ensure it lasts the next 5 weeks. (If the blogging stops, you know why)

Anyway, we left Rome this morning and drove to Pisa, to see the famous leaning tower, Torre Pendente. After a drive around the city to avoid the ZTL zones, we finally pulled up in the car park and went to have a look.

It didn't dissapoint. Even though the square is packed out with souvenier stalls and so many people, the buildings in the square are just exquisite. We only looked at them from the outside (17 euro each to go up the tower), but they were well and truly worth the detour.

Then it was another hours drive to La Spezia, where we are spending the night before heading back into Switzerland and Germany for the Nurburgring on Friday.
