The parc is pretty amazing, the front buildings where the gates are look like gingerbread houses. You walk uphill through the gates, passing a fountain with a dragon head, upstairs into a structure with 100 columns [Gaudi designed the park to be a community for the rich and this structure was to be the centre marketplace. The plan never came to fruition and it became a park].
We went to the upper levels, passing a terrace [shaped like a surfer's perfect wave] and a wrought iron fence [the panels are shaped like palm leaves] and onto the top of the market structure.
We sat on the bench and ate our lunch [ham and cheese baguettes, our staple diet, made most days before going out], with the beautiful views of the city in the background. Whilst we were sitting there we watched an excursion of preschool children being told not to jump in the huge puddles [yeah, right]. Nice to see things remain the same, no matter what country.
After looking at some more of the park, we walked back downhill to the metro stop and caught the train to the city centre.
